Located in the heart of Cowes on the town’s buzzing High Street, Gastronomy is a relaxed bar and restaurant serving up exciting dishes with global influences, providing Islanders and tourists alike with good food, good drinks and good times.
The restaurant is innovative in its offering, allowing guests to personalise their dining experience and local produce is on offer when possible. Customers can choose from a taco menu, bao bun menu and a selection of small plates to create a sociable, tapas-style feast. Alternatively, traditionalists can stick to the notion of the three-course meal, ordering mains from Gastronomy Cowes’ carefully curated list of large plates – from American style burgers and ribs, to the flavour explosions that are the restaurant’s popular vegetarian and vegan options.
The extensive bar and top-notch mixologists can cater for any thirsty customer. With a cocktail list that changes regularly, customers at Gastronomy Cowes are wowed by the wondrous concoctions placed before them. Pouring pints of ice cold and super cool Punk IPA and Lost Lager – BrewDog’s famous craft beers – the restaurant’s team brings a fresh vision to the Isle of Wight hospitality scene.
By very definition, ‘Gastronomy’ means the art of good eating – something this restaurant holds as its ethos. The chefs travel far and wide each year to bring new experiences to Cowes High Street, exploring Mexico, Kenya, France and South Africa in recent months.
Gastronomy has been exceptionally busy since it opened its doors in February 2018. The venue has achieved a sterling reputation, scoring 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor, 4.9 stars on Facebook and a 5 star Food Hygiene rating.
The restaurant is the vision of young Islanders Charles Ford and Christianne Whitehouse, who both grew up in Freshwater. Providing something unique for locals and visitors is of paramount importance to the ambitious pair; their establishment aims to make Cowes – and indeed the Isle of Wight itself – a true destination.
