Mindfulness is a popular concept these days and feeding the grey matter is essential to a holistic feeling of wellbeing.

What better than to explore the visual arts at some of the Island’s museums.

The Museum of Island History in Newport is a treasure trove of paintings and photographs as well as amazing history of the Isle of Wight.

And if photography is your interest, then find out about the work of pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron ant Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater Bay.

This lovely little villa also has a permanent exhibition about the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, where Jimi Hendrix played to an estimated 250,000 people on nearby Afton Down.

If you want to go further back in time then Brading Roman Villa is a fascinating trip back in time and contains incredible mosaics discovered below a farmer’s field!

Music plays a big part in Isle of Wight life. You can let yourself go along with 50,000 others at the Isle of Wight Festival at Newport’s Seaclose Park each June or take it a bit more small scale at the regular gis of all genres at Shanklin Theatre and Medina Theatre in Newport.

Then there are the annual events such as Ventnor Fringe, which brings the best music comedy and theatre to the little South Island town, and Wight Proms in Northwood Park, Cowes.
