Whilst the hustle and bustle of the summer months comes to an end, the Isle of Wight doesn’t shut up shop. Instead it transforms into a winter wonderland, with plenty of festive things to see and do. Why not make your way to the Isle of Wight for a relaxing Christmas escape? Put on your best knitwear or outrageous Christmas jumper and head on over to the Island for a Wight Christmas.
The Isle of Wight hosts a great range of events to take part in during December. Take a look at the list at the bottom of the page to find out about some of the fantastic events that are happening this year.
And for those last-minute Christmas presents, explore our towns and villages where you’ll find all sorts of wonderful shops selling gifts and produce made on the Isle of Wight. The Island is famed for its local produce and would make the perfect Christmas hamper.
One of the Isle of Wight’s most impressive features is its stunning landscape. Here you’ll get to explore all kinds of countryside – grassy hills and fields, vast sandy beaches, chalk cliffs and pebbly coves. When it comes to cool, crisp winters in the countryside, the Isle of Wight has it down to a fine art.
Put on your walking shoes and warm jacket and take a stroll along our coastal footpaths to witness the very best of the Isle of Wight’s landscape. Why not top it off with a well-deserved meal at one of our excellent pubs or restaurants next to a cosy log fire.
Why not extend your Christmas break into the New Year? The Isle of Wight is host to some fabulous New Year’s celebrations and events that are worth staying an extra few nights for.

Whatever you decide to do and however you’re travelling, it couldn’t be easier to get to the Isle of Wight via Lymington, Southampton, Southsea or Portsmouth. There are regular rail connections to the south coast via SWR.
Travelling as a foot passenger is simple due to our excellent transport links with trains, buses, foot passenger ferries and our hovercraft service.
