Whether you’re looking to escape and unwind in the great outdoors or to entertain the family, there’s something for everyone on the Island this Easter. And there’s nothing quite like springtime on the Isle of Wight. Boasting acres of unspoiled countryside and breathtaking coastal landscapes, the warm temperatures and fun-filled Easter events make spring the perfect time to explore all the Island has to offer. Plus, you’ll get the chance to see the local wildlife emerge from their hibernation, too. So, what are you waiting for?
Hop on over to the Island this Easter and create memories you'll cherish for a lifetime. With so much to see and do, every member of your clan will be spoilt for choice – from tiny tots to Nan and Grandad.
First up, make a splash with the whole family at Aqua Park – the Island’s first (and only) outdoor floating obstacle course. Slip, slide and laugh your way around the course – but be warned, you WILL get wet! Next, unleash your competitive side and go head to head at Crazy Golf, Football Golf or Wight Karting. The question is, who will end up victorious?
Nature-lovers will adore meeting animals big and small at the Donkey Sanctuary and Monkey Haven. There’s also The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, which is home to rescued cats, mammals, primates and more.
If you’re up for an adventure, spend a day exploring the ever-popular Carisbrooke Castle and The Needles Landmark Attraction. Or why not hire bikes, ride the steam train or dive in and give surfing a go? There’s nothing stopping you this Easter!
Whatever your idea of family fun, we've got you covered.
One of just seven destinations awarded UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, the Isle of Wight is an idyllic Island escape on your doorstep. Plus, with over 50% of the Island designated as an Isle of Wight National Landscape (formerly known as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), there’s always something to see – from towering chalk cliffs to golden beaches, rolling rural vistas to sand dunes. Take a trip to the Isle of Wight this Easter and you’ll get to explore the best of the UK’s impressive landscape all in one unique place.
Treat your tastebuds by trying out the flavoursome local produce on offer in one of the Island’s many restaurants and bars. Enjoy freshly-caught seafood, fish and chips by the sea, exquisite fine dining, a hearty Sunday roast, or a simple glass of wine surrounded by stunning Island views. Whatever takes your fancy, there’s plenty to choose from.
The Isle of Wight is bursting with unique and quirky holiday rentals and accommodation. From charming seaside hotels to campsites, self-catered properties and retro Airstream caravans, discover a range of interesting places to stay during your Easter trip. And while you’re here, why not take the plunge and try something new? The Island really does have it all – walking, water sports, cycling, horse riding, tree climbing, sailing, fossil hunting and more!
Come and tick something off your bucket list on the Wight this Easter.
Boasting an intricate network of footpaths, bridleways and byways, the Island is the perfect place to get away and get outside. After all, the best way to explore the Isle of Wight is on foot.
Explore miles of stunning coastline and unique landscapes on foot or by bike, with trails and routes to suit all abilities. The Island boasts 68 miles of stunning coastal paths, with many of the walking routes taking a few hours to an entire day to complete. How far you travel is completely up to you.
For avid bikers and hikers, we recommend putting your metal to the test climbing one of the Isle of Wight’s many hills. Feel the burn pedalling to the top of the Needles Old Battery, marching across Mottistone or Culver Down.
To explore the Island at your own pace, take in the views and the fresh salty air, see our Slow Guide for some more leisurely inspiration.
For families, we recommend our Red Squirrel Trail, a gentle bike trail through countryside. Or cycle or walk pier to pier between Sandown and Shanklin and treat yourself to the first ice cream of the season. Yum.
To celebrate Easter, visit the Island’s many top attractions. For a royally good time, head off on an adventure at Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House. Go back in time to the golden age of steam with Easter at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, or enjoy the open spaces at one of our outdoor attractions like Tapnell Farm Park or Blackgang Chine.
Or why not create your very own Easter egg hunt at one of the Island’s many beauty spots like Tennyson Down, St Helen’s Duver or Appley Beach. Please be wildlife-friendly and don't use chocolate/edibles as part of your hunt, and always remember to take your litter home.
