Looking for memorable summer events on the Isle of Wight? Quarr Abbey offers a varied programme of activities set within one of our island's most peaceful and historic locations. From guided tours and family activities to live music and exhibitions, there's something for visitors of all ages to enjoy throughout the summer.
Nestled between Ryde and Wootton, Quarr Abbey combines beautiful grounds, striking architecture and a welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect destination for a day out. Whether you're visiting with family, exploring our island's heritage or simply looking to relax in tranquil surroundings, the Abbey's summer events programme provides plenty of reasons to visit.
One of the highlights of the summer programme is the opportunity to take a guided tour of the Abbey Church. These tours offer visitors the chance to learn more about the history of Quarr Abbey, its remarkable architecture and the Benedictine community that continues to call it home.
Alongside the church tours, you can explore the Visitor Centre, gardens and woodland trails at their own pace, creating a rewarding day out that combines history, nature and spirituality.
Families visiting Quarr Abbey can enjoy activities designed to help children discover the Abbey and its surrounding landscape.
The free Family Trail takes visitors on an adventure around the Abbey Church and grounds, encouraging children to learn more about life at Quarr Abbey while exploring the site together.
Explorer Kits are also available free of charge from the Farm Shop. These kits help young visitors discover the nature and wildlife found around the Abbey, with equipment including binoculars to encourage closer observation of the surrounding environment.
These activities make Quarr Abbey an excellent choice for families looking for things to do on the Isle of Wight during the school holidays.
Throughout the summer, Quarr Abbey hosts a selection of concerts, performances and community events.
Music lovers can enjoy performances ranging from traditional male voice choir concerts and swing band performances to lively sea shanties and informal singing sessions where everyone is welcome to join in. These events create a relaxed atmosphere and celebrate local musical talent within the unique surroundings of the Abbey.
The summer programme also includes fundraising events, giving you the opportunity to support the ongoing work of Quarr Abbey while enjoying good food and entertainment in a beautiful setting.
Art enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy throughout the summer.
The Courtyard Gallery hosts changing exhibitions featuring the work of emerging and established local artists. With exhibitions changing regularly, there is always something new to discover, making repeat visits especially rewarding.
The gallery complements the wider visitor experience, adding another cultural dimension to a day spent exploring the Abbey.

Beyond the events programme, Quarr Abbey offers much more to explore.
You can wander through approximately 200 acres of pasture, woodland, coastline and formal gardens before enjoying refreshments in the Tea Shop. The Farm Shop stocks a variety of local Isle of Wight produce alongside Quarr Abbey's own products, while the Monastery Shop offers books, gifts and religious items.
The Abbey remains an active Benedictine monastery, and visitors are welcome to experience its peaceful atmosphere while respecting this unique place of worship.
Whether you're searching for family-friendly days out, live music on the Isle of Wight, local art exhibitions or opportunities to explore our island's rich heritage, Quarr Abbey offers a diverse summer programme in an unforgettable setting.
