One of the best value ways to travel to the Isle of Wight is via coach, with regular connections running from almost anywhere in the UK to Portsmouth and Southampton where the Isle of Wight ferry connections are located.
Travellers arriving at Portsmouth's “The Hard” bus station are a short walk from Portsmouth Harbour Station where the Portsmouth to Ryde Wightlink foot passenger service operates.
Alternatively you can pick up the “Hoverbus” which will drop you at the Southsea terminal of Hovertravel to catch the Isle of Wight Hovercraft to Ryde.
Drop offs at Southampton Coach Station have a short walk to the train station, where you can pick up a free shuttle bus to the Red Funnel ferry connection to West or East Cowes.
Regular services are operated across the UK by National Express coaches, with a shuttle service from London Victoria to Portsmouth and Southsea - which depending on the time of day you travel can take just 1 hour 45 minutes, and only cost £7.00 for a single fare!
It is also possible to purchase “through” tickets with National Express from most destinations to Ryde via Hovertravel, with some of them dropping you off directly at the Hoverport in Southsea.
For more information on all National Express services check out their website.
You can also buy package holiday deals to the Isle of Wight which include coach and ferry travel, plus accommodation – please see travel agents for details.
