There is a regular train service operating from Ryde Pierhead which connects the east and south of the Isle of Wight via the towns of Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin.
The trains operating the service are former London Underground electric trains, which gives the Island Line it’s very own unique identity and appeal.
You can buy a through ticket from London Waterloo to any station along the Island Line network which will include travel via either of the foot passenger ferry services.
The line is also operated by South Western Railway so any discounts which apply on their network are also valid on the Island Line and connections.
Visit South Western Railway to purchase tickets for the Island Line train service.
In addition to the train stations listed there is also an additional bus service which collects passengers from Shanklin and connects them to the town of Ventnor further along the coast.
Island Line trains connect to bus services in Ryde and Shanklin - with a short walk to other bus services in Brading, Lake and Sandown.
The Island Line service also connects to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, by way of a small station at Smallbrook Juntion – meaning travellers from London Waterloo can literally travel back in time through the ages of railways on their journey to the Island!
Ryde Pier, along which the train runs to connect with the Ryde Pierhead station, is the oldest seaside pier in England and celebrated its 200th birthday in 2014!
