Friendly craft workshops for all ages on the Isle of Wight

Looking for something relaxing, fun, and hands-on? Island CraftWorks is a welcoming craft studio on the Isle of Wight offering relaxed, hands-on workshops for visitors and locals looking for a calm and creative experience. The workshops are perfect for families, couples, groups and rainy days.

Our sessions are designed for all abilities, no experience is needed. Focus on mindful making, natural materials, and taking time to slow down and enjoy creating something by hand. 

Popular workshops

There are a range of workshops to try including Vision Boards, Cinnamon Stick Macramé Wall Hangings, Crepe Paper Rose Garlands, along with a range of other Macramé projects, Paper Flowers, Dreamcatchers, and Seashell crafts.

All materials are provided, and you’ll take home a finished piece as a creative souvenir of your time on the island, carefully made by you to enjoy or as a special gift.

Workshop times

• Tuesday: 11am – 1pm
• Wednesday: 11am – 1pm
• Saturday: 11am – 1pm
• Other times: Available by appointment.

Booking is preferred. Drop-ins welcome where space allows, subject to availability.

Spring & Easter workshops

A range of creative workshops are available this spring and Easter, including crepe paper daffodil bouquets, macramé eggs and bunnies and decorative wreaths. These hands-on, guided sessions include all materials and are suitable for beginners. Open to adults and children aged 8+. For more information and to book please visit Island CraftWorks website. 

Private & bespoke workshops

Visiting for a short stay, travelling as a group, or looking for a special experience?

Private workshops can be arranged to suit your schedule and chosen craft, offering a flexible and personal way to enjoy hands-on creativity. Whether you are completely new or already experienced, each session is tailored to your interests and pace. The craft sessions are ideal for birthdays, small celebrations, family gatherings, or a relaxed creative treat during your visit. They also make a memorable activity for friends travelling together, team getaways, or anyone wanting to try something new. All materials are provided, and guidance is given throughout, ensuring a welcoming, enjoyable, and rewarding experience from start to finish.

Dog-friendly creativity

Yes, Island CraftWorks is dog-friendly! Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join your workshop. Water bowls and treats are provided, and we’re a short walk from Ryde seafront - perfect for a post-craft stroll.

Island CraftWorks is led by Gabby Ryde, a local maker with years of experience in community arts. Gabby is passionate about making creativity accessible, sustainable, and joyful for everyone.

Location of Island CraftWorks

Island CraftWorks is located on the top of Ryde’s High Street (130 High Street, PO33 2RJ). We are the third shop on the right, before the traffic light lights at St. John’s Road. You won’t be able to miss us, as we always have lights, macrame, seashells and flowers in the window!
