The Quirky Teapot – a vintage cafe for afternoon teas and retro events near Newport on the Isle of Wight

Located on the outskirts of Newport, set within the working Staplehurst Grange sheep farm, The Quirky Teapot is a charming and character-filled independent café, known for its traditional English afternoon teas, vintage-inspired décor, and retro musical events.

Homemade cakes and traditional English afternoon teas

The cafe’s signature offering is its full traditional afternoon tea, beautifully served on a three-tier stand with freshly made sandwiches, warm scones with jam and clotted cream, and a selection of homemade sweet treats. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, mark a special occasion, or simply treat yourself.

In addition to afternoon tea, The Quirky Teapot serves a selection of homemade lunches, including soups, sandwiches, savoury rolls, and daily specials.

Vintage style and cosy garden

True to its name, the interior is filled with vintage crockery, retro furnishings, and nostalgic details that make every visit feel like stepping into a bygone era. There’s also a sheltered garden—ideal for enjoying lunch or tea outdoors during warmer months.

Assistance dogs only

Due to its location on a working sheep farm, dogs are not permitted. Only assistance dogs are allowed.

Private hire and events

The cafe is available for private hire, and throughout the summer months it hosts retro-style live music events inspired by the 1940s and 1950s.

Seasonal opening hours

Open Wednesday to Saturday, 11:00–16:00. Closed throughout January.
