This August V-Dub Island, one of the fastest growing and best-value festivals on the Island, will take place from August 14th to 18th - on the site of the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight Festival at Afton Down!

As V-Dub Island begins it will be almost 44 years since Richie Havens closed the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, where an incredible 600,000 revellers were present, and its location at East Afton Farm has fallen largely silent ever since. That is all set to change as V-Dub Island, the Isle of Wight’s family friendly festival for VW enthusiasts and like-minded folk, will be bringing back the spirit and heritage of the legendary event. What’s more this year festival goers can start their V-Dub Island experience early as they will be opening the site up on August 10th for “Carry on Camping”.

East Afton Farm is a brand new location for V-Dub Island, which now in its fourth year has already built a large following. They will be honouring the Isle of Wight Festival site with some of the best tribute acts to the original 1970 line-up around - bringing the “Summer of Love” vibe well and truly back to the Island! These include Who’s Next (The Who tribute), The Strange Doors (Doors Tribute) and The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced?

They will be joined by headliners Rob Da Bank, The Cuban Brothers, Dub Pistols, and a whole host of fantastic local Isle of Wight bands, artists and DJs.

The V-Dub Island site offers a lot more than just music – there is a huge beach area created for young children and families, with a 45ft slide, plus a large skate ramp with exciting displays from the Wight Trash team. There are children’s workshops taking place during the day, with silent discos to keep them quiet in the evenings, and also lots of competitions taking place across the 4 days which include an incredible Soap Box Derby race! There are also various other stalls, acts and activities to keep you entertained during the festival – keep an eye out for the latest updates on the V-Dub Island Facebook and Twitter.

The large collection of VW vehicles always takes center stage at V-Dub Island, and for enthusiasts bringing theirs along there is a traditional “Ride Out” which will take place on the Saturday morning across the Isle of Wight, looping back round along the stunning coast road. At the end there will be a stop off at Compton Bay for the “Run to the Surf” competition, which you can bring your board and get involved with, or simply kick back and relax watching it unfold from the shore.

For those eager to settle into the swing of V-Dub Island early this year, the all-new “Carry on Camping” package allows you entry into the site from the 10th August, which includes the additional nights of camping plus exclusive access to the camp site shop and bar/café. Don’t forget V-Dub Island also provides hot, clean showers which you don’t pay a penny extra for!

And great value is what V-Dub Island is all about… for the 4 day event (August 14th to 18th) it costs just £32.50 - which includes camping! If you want to extend your stay with “Carry on Camping” and arrive on Sunday August 10th it will only cost you an additional £20.00 per person for 4 nights additional camping and full access to all of the sites facilities!
