Enjoy a classic British evening out at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s popular Fish & Chip Evenings, returning on selected Tuesdays throughout July and August. Combining freshly served fish and chips with nostalgic steam train travel, these relaxed summer evenings offer the perfect way to enjoy our island countryside, heritage atmosphere and delicious food all in one memorable experience.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Havenstreet Station, the Fish & Chip Evenings have become a firm favourite in the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s events calendar. Whether you are visiting with family, enjoying a summer evening with friends or looking for a unique dining experience on the Isle of Wight, the event offers something special for all ages.
Steam train ride
One of the highlights of the evening is the chance to travel aboard the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s beautifully restored steam trains. Enjoy a scenic journey through our island countryside in luxurious Victorian and Edwardian carriages, hauled by historic steam locomotives that recreate the golden age of railway travel.
The Fish & Chip Evenings operate alongside the Railway’s normal running day, with an extended evening timetable allowing you to experience steam travel later into the evening. As the sun begins to set and the station lights glow, the atmosphere becomes even more magical, creating a wonderfully nostalgic setting for a summer evening out.
You can choose to enjoy your fish and chip supper in the station restaurant or take it onboard the train while travelling through the picturesque Isle of Wight countryside. Dining aboard a heritage steam train adds an extra touch of charm and makes the experience truly unforgettable.
Freshly served fish and chips
A traditional fish and chip supper is freshly prepared and served from the restaurant at Havenstreet Station. Fish and chip meals are available from 5.30pm.
Advance booking is required for fish and chip meals, and collection times will be clearly displayed on your tickets. This helps ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for you throughout the evening.
Whether you choose to dine in the restaurant or enjoy your supper while travelling on a steam train, the combination of heritage rail travel and a traditional British favourite creates the perfect recipe for a relaxed summer evening.
Live entertainment
Alongside the steam trains and fish suppers, enjoy live entertainment during the evening with Stevo every Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm.
Family-friendly event
This event is perfect for families, with the Railway’s park and play area providing plenty of entertainment for younger ones while parents relax with an evening drink from the Barn Café.
