Young Handler Academy – Show Day at the Farm, IOW Rare Breeds

Discover what it takes to become a young livestock handler with this fun and interactive experience at the farm. Perfect for animal-loving children, the Young Handler Academy offers the chance to work closely with sheep and goats while learning the skills needed to prepare them for the show ring.

Participants will be paired with one of the farm's friendly sheep or goats and guided through every stage of the showing process. From grooming and preparing their animal to learning how to lead and present it with confidence, young handlers will enjoy a hands-on experience led by the farm's knowledgeable team.

The session concludes with a friendly farm show, where participants can put their new skills into practice in the show ring before receiving a certificate to celebrate their achievement. Rosettes will also be awarded in a variety of fun categories, making this a memorable day for every young handler.

Suitable for children aged 5–16 years, no previous experience is required—just a love of animals and a willingness to get involved. This is a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy a unique family-friendly experience on the Isle of Wight.
