On Saturday 2 May 2026, adventurers and animal lovers alike are invited to take part in the Wildheart Wire Walk, a remarkable event hosted by the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary that blends heart racing challenge with heartfelt support for wildlife. 

A highwire for a high cause

Imagine standing beneath blue Isle of Wight skies, gazing up at a 70 metre long highwire suspended above the Sanctuary’s grounds. That’s the challenge at the Wildheart Wire Walk, a bold test of balance and bravery where you will walk on a tightrope high above the animal sanctuary, taking in spectacular views over lush habitats and Sandown Bay beyond. 

This isn’t just an adrenaline challenge: it’s an opportunity to make a real difference. Participants in the Wildheart Wire Walk are invited to raise funds to support Wildheart’s vital charity work in rescuing, rehabilitating and providing lifelong sanctuary for exotic animals in need. By stepping out onto the wire, you will be helping to ensure the Sanctuary’s important mission continues into the future. 

Part of a special anniversary year

The 2026 Wildheart Wire Walk is not only a thrilling challenge, it’s also part of Wildheart Animal Sanctuary’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. To mark half a century of care, conservation and connection, the Sanctuary is looking for 50 fearless fundraisers to take on this unforgettable challenge. 

Whether you’re a seasoned highwire walker, a first time adventurer or someone simply looking for a unique way to support a worthy cause, this is a chance to do something totally unforgettable in a setting that blends wild beauty with wildlife care.

Unique experience for all

Spectators are also warmly welcomed to the event. With spectator tickets available, friends and family can come along to cheer on participants, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a day at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary.

While participants take on the wire, visitors can explore the Sanctuary’s diverse animal residents, from big cats to primates and more, all living in beautifully maintained habitats. The event offers something for everyone, whether you want to watch the daring walkers or  enjoy a day with fascinating animals.

Support rescued animals

By signing up for the Wildheart Wire Walk, you’re doing more than taking on a physical challenge, you’re helping support a charity that rescues exotic animals and gives them a safe, happy forever home. 

All funds raised go directly towards helping the Sanctuary continue its essential work, from providing daily care and veterinary support to developing educational programmes and enriching visitor experiences that inspire conservation action in every guest who walks through the gates.
