The Isle of Wight nowadays offers everything from residential yoga retreats to a host of holistic spa treatments – making it a great place to visit when you are looking to recharge, or simply try something different in the New Year. What’s more the “Garden Isle” is in itself the perfect sanctuary, part designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by sea and beautiful beaches.

The Island is set to yet again hit the right note during the 2015 Acoustic Isle music festival, offering 10 nights of tasteful “unplugged” music to enjoy in a variety of cosy pubs and venues, leaving the days free for you to explore deserted beaches and magnificent landscapes. Taking place from February 26th to March 8th Acoustic Isle provides the ideal excuse for an early year escape.

Skincare specialists Liz Earle will be leading by example in 2015, teaming up with BBC television presenter, author, and RHS ambassador James Wong to create a “horticultural oasis” at Ventnor Botanic Gardens. Utilising the unique microclimate in which the Garden is located, they will transform more than three acres of space into a tranquil haven featuring rare and exotic plants.  The Liz Earle garden will open early in the New Year, encouraging an entirely new generation of green-fingered visitors to enjoy the contemplative space.

Ventnor town has been regarded a “spa resort” since the days of the Victorians, and the nearby “Crows Nest” at The Cabin continues that tradition offering spa and holistic treatments to promote well-being and good health for both men and women. The Cabin has two stunning treatment rooms overlooking the beach and sea, and sessions can be booked in conjunction with overnight stays at one of the Isle of Wight’s finest hotels, The Royal, which is located close by.

Along the coast to another of the Island’s traditional seaside resorts, Sandown, you will find the Melville Hall Hotel and Utopia Spa. This exclusive “adults only” hotel is the perfect place to unwind and relax, with extensive spa facilities providing daytime pampering, and only a short walk away from two of the Isle of Wight’s finest Blue Flag beaches, Yaverland and Sandown.

On the opposite side of the Island the Lakeside Park Hotel also welcomes guests to their luxury spa and leisure facilities, this time set against the contrasting backdrop of Wootton Creek. Guests at the hotel can enjoy a wide range of therapies in one of their 4 beauty treatment rooms, then enjoy a relaxing overnight stay in four star accommodation with views over the lake.

Elsewhere, you can enroll in a Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation Weekend Retreat, which is being offered by local yoga expert Carol Macartney. The “Retreat from the Mind” is based at the award-winning Nettlecombe Farm in Whitwell, and takes place the first two weekends in March.
