About
An exciting and refreshing solo exhibition of mixed media abstract 3D wall art painted in oils, together with unique and distinctive handmade, hand-carved ceramics by Isle of Wight artist Andrew Dowden.
Andrew's ceramic work has evolved from his first wheel-thrown pots, to hand-turned spiral knobs on lidded pots, slab-built standing stones, temple sculptures, wheel forms, shipwrecks and ceramic wall panels. A former carpenter, Andrew makes all the frames for his work himself. His main interest is form and surface texture. The work is original and creative, and visitors to previous exhibitions have commented in the visitors' book: 'Such an eclectic mix of panels . . .' - 'Thank you for such a refreshing ceramic experience . . .' - An amazingly creative exhibition . . .'
Inspiration comes from all around - the surrounding sea and countryside - tracks made by man, machine and by nature, architecture, history and archaeology, engineering and machinery . . .
More recently, and continuing his interest in surface texture, Andrew has created mixed media, abstract 3D art panels and sculptures painted in oils. These vibrant and inspirational pieces complement Andrew's ceramics.
Meet the artist, as Andrew will be in attendance throughout the exhibition. 10% of all sales goes to Quarr Abbey, a registered charity.
The exhibition runs from Thursday, 17th July to Tuesday, 22nd July, 10 am to 4.30 pm. Entry is free
