The Isle of Wight Scooter Rally has been a feature of August Bank Holiday weekend since 1980, and will again see thousands of scooterists descend on the Island for a weekend of events and entertainment in and around Ryde, with a spectacular “ride-out” on Sunday 24th August.

Just outside of Ryde, at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet, the Island Steam Show will be taking place from Friday 22nd August through to Monday 25th. Now in its 40th year the steam show will feature a range of fun family entertainment, with traditional fairground rides, steam demonstrations, motorbike displays and lots more. There will even be a "Sheep Show" described as the "Sheep equivalent of Miss World!"

Elsewhere on the Island the London Contemporary Theatre will be performing two special productions in the unique setting of Ventnor Botanic Gardens on Friday 22nd August, with Treasure Island (at 2pm) followed by Midsummer Night’s Dream (at 7.30pm.)

Two of the Isle of Wight’s traditional carnival processions will be taking place across the weekend; with the Cowes illuminated carnival lighting up the streets on the evening of Saturday 23rd August, and St Helen’s with a day of events and early evening procession on Bank Holiday Monday.

Movie fans can catch screenings at a unique location from the Extraordinary Travelling Film Show heading to Isle of Wight Zoo for a showing of animated favourite Madagascar on August 23rd, and the hilarious Ice Age on August 24th.

For families looking for some outdoor fun with the kids you can “Go Wild on Fridays” with the “Troll Trail Fairytales” walk with a magical twist from Merstone Station. Don’t forget to also take a wander along the family friendly Summer Nature Trail which runs around Bembridge Windmill that weekend.

Some of the Island’s biggest attractions will also be hosting special events and activities across Bank Holiday weekend, with “Small Adventures for Royal Children” at Osborne, and “Days of Adventure” at Robin Hill Adventure Park followed by the “Electric Woods – Ambient August” in the evenings.
