The Centre – Celebrating 50 Years of Quay Arts
Step into the story of one of the Isle of Wight's most treasured cultural venues with The Centre, a special mixed-media exhibition celebrating 50 years of Quay Arts.
Marking five decades of creativity, community and artistic inspiration, this thought-provoking installation explores the history of Quay Arts from its beginnings in 1976 through to the present day. Combining archive material, artworks, objects, ephemera and the voices of founders, artists and visitors, the exhibition brings together the people, moments and milestones that have shaped the organisation over the last half-century.
Presented as a physical timeline, The Centre charts the growth of Quay Arts while celebrating the artists, performers, community groups and audiences who have contributed to its remarkable legacy. The exhibition also looks ahead, reflecting on the future of this much-loved creative hub at the heart of the Isle of Wight.
Inspired by a 1987 Quay Arts brochure designed by Marriott Design & Advertising, the exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the venue's rich heritage and enduring impact on the Island's cultural landscape.
The Centre is on display in the West Gallery at Quay Arts.
