In Ideas

The Isle of Wight has plenty of attractions and activities to keep you entertained during a visit, and what’s more you will find some of them won’t cost you a penny!

Here are a few “free” ideas to get you started:

  1. Become a Time Traveller – using either the Isle of Wight Official Tourist Guide App (free to Download for iPhone and Android devices) or the Visit Isle of Wight website; plan your perfect “Time Trail” across the Isle of Wight from the free experiences and eras available.*
  2. Watch the world’s largest sailing regattaCowes Week takes place across 8 days at the beginning of August every year and attracts up to 1,000 boats from across the globe. There are up to 40 races a day, many of which can be enjoyed from the shore where it is completely free to spectate. Almost 100,000 people flock to the town of Cowes every year to join in including plenty of celebrities and famous faces!
  3. Walk with Dinosaurs (and Dinobots) – download the free “Dinosaur Island” app for your smartphone or tablet and you can walk alongside the mighty giants that used to walk the Isle of Wight millions of years ago. Photograph your Dinosaur experiences and share them with your friends afterwards!
  4. Visit the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary – the Donkey Sanctuary near Wroxall is a near permanent fixture in Trip Advisor’s Top 10 attractions on the Isle of Wight, and you only need to call in to find out why. Established in 1987 the sanctuary has helped over 200 animals over the years, and there are always friendly volunteers on hand to chat to visitors and show them around.
  5. Head to the Beach – a simple yet favourite past time for generations has been the British beach holiday, and on the Isle of Wight we currently hold the most beach awards in the whole of England! Whether you want to build a sandcastle, skim stones, swim in the sea, top up your tan, or in the cooler months simply recharge with a scenic stroll along the coast, the Island has beaches of all shapes and sizes for you to enjoy.
