Nestled within a private woodland on a working farm, just a short distance from Newtown Creek, Wight Classic Camping offers you a peaceful getaway where you can reconnect with nature without giving up home comforts. Wake up to bird's singing, unwind beneath the trees, and enjoy the tranquillity of an exclusive woodland retreat that's perfect for slowing down and switching off.

The woodland retreat is limited to two safari tents making it a small and exclusive site. Ideal for families and couples, its location is the perfect spot to explore the rest of the Island from your doorstep. It's also a wonderful campsite for four-legged companions, with dogs warmly welcomed and plenty of scenic walks right from your doorstep.

What is a safari tent?

Made from poles and canvas, these large camping constructions have walls and a roof and are designed with the UK’s varying elements in mind! Unlike an oversized tent though, you’re in for a comfy stay. With proper beds, real furniture and all the essentials included, it's camping made easy.

Tranquil location

Only 5 miles from both Cowes and Yarmouth, it’s the perfect location to allow you to explore the rest of the Island as well as the beauty on your doorstep. You’re in prime dog walking territory, close to public links including a bus stop at the end of the lane yet nestled away in a private woodland away from passing traffic.

Facilities at Wight Classic Camping

With a kitchen, furniture, proper beds with linen, a private bathroom with a flushing loo, hot shower and fluffy towels, and a cosy woodburner in the living area, you’ll need to step outdoors to remind yourself you’re in the woods. Head outside and you’ll also find your own BBQ and outdoor kitchen around a warming fire pit, perfect for marshmallow toasting and s’more making in the evening.

‘Hedgehog’s Den’ and ‘Squirrels Drey’ can accommodate up to 5 guests each and we’ll happily welcome up to two dogs per tent at no extra charge. Each tent has one double bedroom (sleeps 2), 1 double / twin room (sleeps 2) and the option for you to bring a children's inflatable bed for the lounge area.

Farm made food

Our safari tents are tended to by our own small team of secret squirrels who will ensure you have everything you need for a relaxing stay. This includes stocking your tent with handmade cakes, yoghurts, kefir, scones and desserts straight from a team of expert bakers on the farm at Calbourne Classics. You can pre-order on their website calbourneclassics.co.uk and it will all be ready for you when you arrive. They even make their own clotted cream ice cream on site!
