Getting to the Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is so easy to get to, whether you’re travelling on foot or by car. One fabulous feature of the Isle of Wight is that it is – well, an island! We’re surrounded by water and most visitors travel to us using one of our local ferry companies. The journey can take anything from fifteen minutes to one hour depending on which route you travel.
Crossing the water is the perfect start to a carefree holiday. You might want to fly over on a hovercraft with Hovertravel. Or you may prefer to bring your car and enjoy a leisurely trip by car ferry with Wightlink or Red Funnel; there’s time grab a coffee and sit back and enjoy the stunning sea views. A regular foot passenger service is also available from Portsmouth to Ryde and Southampton to Cowes.
