A quirky rustic beach café nestled on the beach at Forelands, Bembridge, Isle of Wight.

Exposed to the elements this is an outdoor café with all outdoor seating offering brunch and seafood lunches. Weekend sundowner cocktails and occasional chilled out seafood dining evenings during July and August.

What to expect…

Situated down 3 sets of steps you’ve bench seating. Blankets on windy days. Sunscreen and hats on sunny days. Don’t dress up.

This is a true beach café where you can take a swim in-between ordering and your food coming out. On windy days you can watch the waves crashing on the shore. Located at the famous Bembridge Ledge you can see the rocky outcrop that harbours the famous Bembridge crabs and lobsters.

Food wise it’s a mix of picky dishes through to seafood platters using local handpicked crab, smoked salmon, crevettes, prawns and occasional lobster.

What makes the Beach Hut different is that it doesn’t fry anything. It’s all shellfish and salads in the Summer. Crab sandwiches if it’s available. The menu changes frequently to reflect what’s in season and available.

The website is regularly kept up-to date. Kids are well catered for as you would expect with a kids menu and ice cream sundaes. An ice cream hut sits proudly stocking locally made IW ice cream.

Afternoons are served with cakes and locally made scones.

Opening hours are 10am – 4pm and lunch is served 12 -3pm.

As the season goes on opening hours are extended on Friday and Saturdays depending on the weather. Do keep an eye on our socials to check. Or simply give us a call. Dog treats too as the café and beach is dog friendly all year round. It is licenced and has a great wine list including Aix Provence rose and local Ales. No pumps. All in bottles. It’s not big, It’s not fancy. But it is a friendly laid back kind of place.

Not suited for those in a hurry as it’s all cooked and served to order. So expect a wee wait on a busy sunny day. But who cares. Go wander along the beach whilst you wait.

Payment by card is preferred. Free wifi provided.

Off road free parking is available nearby. 10 mins walk from Crossways Bus Stop No.8 Bus.
