About
Parley House is a spacious four-bedroom Victorian holiday home in Cowes, offering a comfortable and convenient base for families, groups of friends and sailing crews visiting the Isle of Wight. Dating from around 1900, the house has been modernised throughout, combining the character and proportions of a traditional Cowes home with contemporary furnishings, technology and the practical facilities needed for a relaxing Island stay.
The house sleeps eight guests as standard across four bedrooms arranged over the upper two floors. The bedrooms offer a flexible mixture of super king, king and single beds, including zip-link arrangements that allow several rooms to be configured for couples or individual guests. This flexibility makes Parley House particularly well suited to families, groups of friends and sailing crews.
Each bedroom has been equipped with guests' everyday comfort in mind, with a dressing table and chair, mirror, hairdryer and USB charging facilities provided in every room. Smart TVs are also available in all four bedrooms. The house has two and a half bathrooms: two full bathrooms, including an en-suite shower room, together with an additional WC.
Downstairs, there is plenty of space for eight guests to spend time together. The comfortable lounge includes a large 75-inch HDTV, while the adjoining conservatory provides another light-filled area in which to sit and relax. Ultrafast 900 Mbps fibre broadband is available throughout the house.
The kitchen and dining areas are intended for guests who want the option of genuinely cooking and dining at home rather than relying on the basic equipment sometimes found in holiday accommodation. The kitchen is extensively furnished, influenced by an owner who enjoys cooking, and includes full-size domestic appliances. These include an extra-wide cooker with a five-burner gas hob, a full-size American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave, along with a wide range of cookware, utensils and other kitchen essentials. A Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother are also provided.
The house is equipped with appropriate glassware for different drinks, including wine, beer and spirits, and the dining area allows the group to sit and enjoy meals together. A charcoal barbecue and outdoor furnishings provide another option when the weather invites guests outside.
Practical facilities are equally important for longer stays and active holidays. A washing machine is available for guests, together with drying racks. These facilities can be particularly useful for families, sailors and visitors spending their days walking, cycling or enjoying the Island's outdoor activities.
One of Parley House's greatest advantages is its Cowes location. Guests can leave the car behind and explore much of the town on foot. Cowes town centre, its waterfront, marinas, yacht clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafés and shops are all within walking distance. This makes the house particularly convenient for visitors arriving as foot passengers on the Red Jet from Southampton, as well as for sailing crews and guests attending Cowes' many maritime events.
The Solent waterfront and a local beach are within walking distance, and there are glimpses of the sea from some rooms. For guests wishing to explore further afield, the Isle of Wight offers a wonderful choice of beaches, countryside, coastal walks, attractions and historic sites, with many popular beaches and destinations within around a 30-minute drive.
Parley House works equally well as a base for an active Island holiday or somewhere to simply slow down and enjoy Cowes. Walkers, cyclists, sailors and other outdoor enthusiasts can explore during the day before returning to the space and facilities of a full-size house. Families and groups can enjoy time together without sacrificing the privacy and flexibility that four separate bedrooms provide.
The property is open throughout the year, making it suitable for summer holidays, sailing events, family gatherings, weekend breaks and quieter visits outside the main holiday season. Dogs can also be accommodated by prior arrangement.
For guests travelling with a vehicle, Parley House has off-road parking for one car, with additional on-street parking available locally. Certain discounted ferry travel may also be available through MaD Island Services; guests should enquire when arranging their stay.
Whether visiting Cowes for its world-famous sailing, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the Island's beaches and countryside, or simply escaping for a few days by the sea, Parley House combines the character and space of a traditional Victorian Cowes home with the conveniences and comforts of modern holiday accommodation.
