One Holyrood Hotel is a renovated and rebuilt series of buildings dating from the 17th century. Centrally located at the heart of the Isle of Wight in Newport, the Island’s County town and commercial centre.

Our collection of 15 rooms includes deluxe rooms for romantic getaways, bright and spacious superior rooms and classic rooms that offer a warm and cosy retreat and one apartment.

In each of our individually decorated rooms we offer, as standard, fresh, crisp white linen, large towels, hand towels and bathmats. Our rooms offer a selection of toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits, a hairdryer, TV and unlimited free WiFi access across the building. An iron and ironing board are also available on request.

Self-catering apartment in Newport – Dolphin Apartment 

Just a short walk from One Holyrood Hotel and overlooking the River Medina and Newport Quay, you'll find our ground floor, self-contained apartment within an 18th century Georgian listed building which is possibly the closest accommodation to the Isle of Wight Festival. The apartment sleeps up to 4 with a double bedroom and en-suite shower room, a lounge dining room with a double sofa bed.  Along with a fully equipped kitchen there are separate laundry facilities. The Dolphin Apartment is ideal those wanting more privacy and independence.  

Locally sourced breakfast

Breakfast is included in the room price. This is a buffet service of a variety of cereals, breads, yoghurts and fruit, along with freshly prepared fruit salad and juices. A cooked breakfast is also available from the menu in the dining room. Local produce is used wherever possible.  A variety of teas and coffee are available with breakfast.

Cafe and Bar at One Holyrood Hotel

The Hotel Café is open every day to 3pm offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and fabulous afternoon teas which you can also enjoy on the terrace or garden. Booking advised. The Bar is a great place to retreat to after work where you can relax in the Lounge or Garden and is open into the evening.

Function Room – The Tool Shed at One Holyrood

Named after its original function, the building was used for making tools during wartime, it has been lovingly transformed into a stylish yet relaxed private function space.

Perfect for small intimate events; wedding receptions, dinner parties, teas, engagement parties, wakes, business meetings, games, exercise, art space, pop-up shops, bespoke events or any other celebration!  

The Tool Shed at One Holyrood is a flexible venue for events for up to 30 people.

One Holyrood Hotel features a charming award winning walled garden that captures the essence of a quintessential British garden. Situated at the rear of the Hotel this hidden gem, again winners in the Wight in Bloom competition, offers a tranquil haven with secluded areas for privacy and relaxation. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely afternoon tea or a drink from the bar there is a spot in the garden for you.

Historic town of Newport

One Holyrood is situated in the quaint town of Newport on the Isle of Wight, a prime location in the heart of the Isle of Wight. From Newport, it’s simple to travel anywhere on the island, by car or the excellent public transport system. Newport is an ideal base for both leisure and business travellers.

The town of Newport boasts a wide range of entertainment options, from a multi-screen cinema just a few minutes' walk from One Holyrood, to the Medina Theatre and Apollo Theatre offering various shows throughout the year.

Newport is also home to several late-night venues, such as Strings Bar, and increasingly well-known restaurants such as Da Vinci, Burrs, and Hewitt's. And Holyrood Street’s Newport Ale House at no. 24a is an unmissable, must visit micro pub. Additionally, the town is known for the internationally recognised Quay Arts Centre. Just a stone's throw away from One Holyrood Hotel and Café this venue holds exhibitions, concerts and events throughout the year.  

As the shopping hub of the Isle of Wight, Newport offers a diverse range of shops, from well-known brands to charming independent boutiques. Newport's historic charm is evident in its two elegant squares, medieval quarter, and unusual grid street layout, where One Holyrood is situated.

Opposite the Hotel in Holyrood Street is the famous Hurst's Ironmongery store, located here since 1886 and still serving the Island’s essential ironmongery needs. Their slogan, ‘Try Hurst’s First’, is true to its word.  

For history enthusiasts, the Isle of Wight is brimming with historic sites such as Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, and Newport’s own Roman Villa, all open to the public for exploration. Sailing enthusiasts can also enjoy a unique experience by following the Roman traders and sailing up the tidal Medina Estuary from Cowes to the Newport Quay. Until the 1960’s it was dealing with more than 2,000 vessels a year. Today it offers well equipped berths for visiting yachts.

Families can visit Robin Hill Adventure Park just outside of Newport, which offers ample space for children to play and run around. Music and festival lovers will also appreciate Newport's hosting of the Isle of Wight Festival, one of the UK's longest-running music festivals, bringing in over 90,000 music fans each year for a weekend of rock, pop, and dance.
