Newly refurbised for summer 2026!

Claremont Shanklin is tucked away on a quiet road parallel to the promenade, then just steps away from the cliff lift down to Shanklin’s sandy beach. 

With its own private, off-street parking and Shanklin station just 10 minutes walk away, whether you are arriving by car or train, the Claremont is the perfect base for your Isle of Wight holiday!

The bus station, High Street and Shanklin Theatre are also all within walking distance, as is Shanklin Old Town, with its much-photographed, thatched-roof cottages, and the uppermost entrance to the famous Shanklin Chine.

Our entire B&B is currently being completely refurbished ready for summer 2026, including relocating our breakfast room to the lightest, airiest room where we can throw open the French doors on sunny mornings (we’re also adding some outdoor seating if you prefer your breakfast al fresco!)

Guest bedrooms are all being redecorated, using a relaxing, coastal, colour palette and we’re adding new furniture, soft furnishings and accessories.

Bay double room

Our largest room comes with a double bed complete with sumptuous King-sized duvet. It has its own seating area in the bay window (perfect for sharing an evening glass of wine and a sunset!) and has an en suite with power shower.

Twin room

Two comfy single beds, each with a double duvet for the best nights sleep ever! This room comes with a full bathroom including full-sized bath and walk-in shower.

Small double room

Cosy for the budget-conscious couple or spacious for a single, our smallest room still sports a 4ft-wide bed and its own en suite with power shower.

Family rooms

The largest room houses a double bed (with obligatory oversized duvet!) while the children’s room, with a low-level bunk bed, leads off of it and then onto the en suite with power shower.

Fully equipped rooms

All rooms are equipped with a hairdryer, wall-mounted TV, kettle, selection of teas, coffee and biscuits, as well as good-quality toiletries and towels.

Eat, drink and be merry!

We love our local restaurants and highly recommend an evening walk down the illuminated Shanklin Chine followed by a fish supper at local inn, Fisherman’s Cottage, when you reach the bottom. Worried you won’t be able to make it back up afterwards? Fear not, the cliff lift operates until 10pm and will deliver you almost to our doorstep!

After a tiring day sightseeing, we also positively encourage guests to use our breakfast room facilities to enjoy a takeaway (you’ll find our favourite menus in your guest information folder.) We aren’t licensed to sell alcohol but are more than happy to supply you with glasses and a corkscrew if you would like to bring in your own!

And for the times you’ve over indulged in ice cream during the day and can’t face a full meal? We also offer reasonably-priced snacks in the evening as well as tea, coffee, and a luscious cream-and-marshmallow-topped hot chocolate.
