Being with horses and being able to connect with them, ride them and experience the thrill of these animals is a transformative experience and one that Island Riding Centre champion and share. They have the Island’s only para-hoist enabling a wheelchair-bound rider to be lifted straight onto their horses for the ultimate experience. There is also a Martello mounting block which enables 2 carers to assist the rider in mounting the horse. Facilities at Island Riding Centre also includes a changing places toilet in the indoor arena.

The modern and bright accommodation at Island Riding Centre has been carefully planned and designed so that whatever level of mobility assistance you need, they can cater for you. The properties have been designed on the framework of the National Scheme for Disabled Access and the accommodation ranges from mobility M1 which is typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance to M3 and M3i – mobility adaptation includes a hob cooker which can raise and lower depending on the wheelchair height, toilet risers, grab rails, accessible WC and shower rooms and down stairs bathrooms.
