Walk the Line Yarmouth to Freshwater with Isle of Wight Steam Railway

£5 places are limited and pre-booking is essential
As part of the Steam Railway's 50th anniversary celebrations, we're offering the opportunity to walk the Island's disused railways. Our November walk follows the course of the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway. This line opened in 1899 but always struggled to attract passengers and goods, and was closed by British Railways in 1956.
Much of the line has disappeared into the landscape, but the section between Yarmouth to Freshwater survives as a popular path and cycle track that runs beside the River Yar. On the way we'll see Yarmouth station, now a popular restaurant, and can stop for refreshments at the 'End of the Line' cafe on the site of Freshwater station. During the walk we'll look for clues of the railway's existence with knowledgeable railway experts.
