Isle of Wight pubs & bars

Did you know that the top cocktail, the Espresso Martini was invented by Dick Bradsell, a man who grew up on the Isle of Wight?

With that sort of mixology heritage, it is not surprising the Island is stirred, not shaken, when it comes to some lovely holiday drinks.

The Drunken Lobster in Ventnor, Artisan Cocktail Bar & Grill in Ryde and Wyld in Newport are three renowned cocktail destinations.

If cocktails are not your thing, then how about a pub with a view?

Being an Island, there are numerous seafront inns with sunsets to die for.

The Woodvale at Gurnard has a stunning outlook over the Western Solent and down the coast at Totland, The Waterfront is equally memorable.

Over on the South side of the Island, The Spyglass Inn has great views over Ventnor Bay and to the East, from the Crab and Lobster at Bembridge you can see all the way to West Sussex and the South Downs on a clear day.

Ths Isle of Wight is well served with its own beers too, with Goddards having its new destination brewery at Branstone now up and running and Island Ales, Yates’s and Wight Knuckle all producing some fabulous, thirst-quenching ales.

And don’t forget the Island’s own world-renowned Mermaid Gin, widely available at bars and restaurants across the Island, in three flavours!
