Matt and Cat say...
Smuggler's Haven cream tea holds its own among the best; or wander a bit further east to the pretty Luccombe Tea Garden.
Above the winding village of Bonchurch is the Smuggler's Haven tea garden. This south-facing lawn is a great hidden gem with stunning views across the English Channel. The scones are freshly made and although the jam and cream are generic it means that the quality is consistent. It's the ideal reward after the steep climb up the Landslip, and with a big grassy lawn is good for kids and dogs too. For more homemade cakes to fuel your walk, take the coastal path east and visit Luccombe Tea Garden or, if you're particularly hungry, head the other way down towards Ventnor and stop at the Bonchurch Inn. This family-run pub serves authentic Italian dishes in a venue with an atmospheric character that has accreted over the decades.
