#96 - Try out her majesty Queen Victoria's pew at Whippingham Church
Isle Of Wight
AboutJust over a mile from Osborne House is St Mildred’s in Whippingham, which became Queen Victoria’s family church for many years in the late 19th century.
The Royal connection can be seen throughout the building with chapels which were rebuilt for the family, a font designed by Princess Louise and several monuments including one for Prince Henry of Battenburg. There are also bibles which were given to Princess Beatrice as wedding gifts, and stained-glass windows showing a number of royal arms.
The Royal Pew underwent some changes with new pews being installed but Queen Victoria’s chair remains in place.
