#86 - Look out to see from Henry VIII's seaside castle at Yarmouth
Isle Of Wight
AboutNestled between a busy harbour and an historic pier in the West Wight you will find Yarmouth’s Tudor Castle.
The seaside fort was the last built as part of Henry VIII’s plans to fortify the English coastline which had suffered the sinking of the Mary Rose two years earlier.
Over the years the Castle has seen many changes and lived many lives, including a time as a coastguard signalling station.
In more recent years it has become an English Heritage property which is an idyllic picnic spot with far-reaching views of the Solent’s busy shipping lane.
