#76 - Enjoy an unplugged music festival from the comfort of a bar stool at Acoustic Isle
Isle Of Wight
AboutIn 1970 the Isle of Wight hosted the largest musical event of its time, with over 600,000 revellers heading to Afton Down to watch some of the biggest stars in music. That tradition has continued for more than 40 years, with a plethora of music festivals still featuring on the Island’s events calendar, including two of the UK’s largest in The Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival.
Add to those Acoustic Isle – a music “festival” with a difference. Not only does it take place towards the end of winter, long before the traditional season of summer festivals begins, it also features gigs (more than 100 over 10 nights) at venues all over the Island, rather than all in one place.
Unplugged and acoustic music takes precedence here, and whilst some gigs feature recognised artists and are paid admission, the majority showcase some of the fantastic local talent on the Isle of Wight, and are completely free to attend.
The Island’s cosy pubs and many unusual venues become the stages at Acoustic Isle, offering live music, great food and drink, and the chance to put your feet up by the fire.
Oh and during the day why not explore the Island? It’s quiet at this time of year, and you might even have the beach to yourself!
