#44 - Watch an ancient forest rise from the sea at Brook
Isle Of Wight
AboutThe Isle of Wight is well known for its dinosaurs, but around our shores and coastline there are also plenty of other ancient features to be discovered.
At Hanover Point, just along from Brook Bay in West Wight, there is a “petrified forest”. Appearing only at low tide the details of the “forest”, which is made up of black rocks formed by the fossilisation of wood, are clear to see – creating an incredible natural spectacle.
A short walk along the beach and visitors can also find fossilised dinosaur footprints.
