#10 - Beat the "Killer" hills on a bike at the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival
Isle Of Wight
AboutThe “Hills Killer” Challenge (available in 3 hill, 7 hill and 14 hill varieties) is one of the most gruelling events in September’s Isle of Wight Cycling Festival, and even in its shortest form is not for the faint hearted.
Pitting riders against a specially plotted course designed to test their strength, endurance and navigation skills, the “Hills Killer” is as much a test of determination as it is of speed.
You can measure your time(s) against your friends and other riders, thanks to the timing chips that you carry from start through to the finish - but be aware that missed checkpoints result in disqualification, so orientation skills are just as important as leg power!
Of course one of the benefits of tackling the Island’s most challenging climbs are the stunning panoramic views which you will get at the top – just don’t spend too long taking them in!
