If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day’s sailing, or a refreshing pint overlooking the water, Cowes and East Cowes offer a large variety of cafes, pubs and hostelries to choose from.
In the heart of the bustling towns on each side of the River Medina you’ll find a large choice of excellent cafes offering everything from a flat white to ham, egg and chips…and all served up with a warm Isle of Wight welcome of course.
A local café is a welcome stop after a day browsing the shops or taking in some of the local history whether it’s for a lunch of locally caught fish or a piece of Victoria sandwich cake with a cup of tea.

If you’re looking for something stronger, Cowes and East Cowes have a great selection of pubs and alehouses with pumps primed with locally produced ale ready to quench your thirst.
Cowes is known for the great atmosphere in its pubs and many of them are within an easy walk of one another. Discover a fantastic Isle of Wight band playing live – many Cowes pubs provide quality local music in the evenings. You’re sure to find a great atmosphere whether you’re sat by a roaring log fire in the middle of winter or on the sundeck in shorts enjoying the summer sun.

If you need something to go with your pint or glass of wine, there’s a great range of gourmet pub food throughout the town, whether you fancy a decent curry, a woodfired pizza, or fish and chips by the sea.

The atmosphere in Cowes during Cowes week is unbeatable and the pubs and alehouses are at the heart of this. A pub crawl from Cowes to East Cowes, crossing the River Medina on the floating bridge is something of an institution.
