Set a short distance from the idyllic Wootton Creek, Bay Cottage is a modern holiday home. A short car journey from the Fishbourne car ferry, you are immediately transported to a wooded wonderland. Indeed, further inland is the stunning Firestone Copse, a popular walking destination and home to many of the Isle of Wight’s indigenous red squirrels and one of the few places in the UK that can claim a safe haven for the endangered species.

Osborne House was undoubtedly one of the stars of the recent film Victoria and Abdul. Pay a visit to the English Heritage property and see why Queen Victoria made the Isle of Wight her home, a perfect place to holiday.

Indeed, Bay Cottage is ideally situated to explore all of the Isle of Wight’s many treasures. English Heritage manage Carisbrooke Castle, once a prison to a King of England, or for more modern history buffs, visit the site of the UK’s rocket base at the Needles.

For nature lovers, take advantage of the many walks available, as numerous routes criss-cross the Island. The Isle of Wight is home to the largest walking festival in the UK and Bay Cottage makes a great starting point.

Public transport links are very good here on the Isle of Wight, and for even more green travel, why not hire a bike and explore to your hearts content. Or jump in the car and make your way to one of the beaches and hidden coves that make the Isle of Wight the UK’s number one holiday destination.

Bay Cottage at Wootton Creek is a short, picturesque walk from nearby Wootton. The village has shops and a pub (which has a fantastic carvery and pizzeria) and is on a main route through to the county town of Newport.
