Situated within the heart of the vibrant yachting town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, The Anchor is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Located opposite Cowes Yacht Haven, just a short stroll from the Red Jet ferry terminal which provides regular crossings to and from mainland England, The Anchor is the ideal place to relax within a warm, friendly atmosphere.

A public house has stood on the site for over 300 years. In 1704 the Debourne Estate leased some land on which The Anchor now stands. It became known as the 'House of the Three Trumpeters' and soon became the principle Coaching Inn of Cowes. Sometime during the 1820's the name changed to 'The Anchor Inn' by which it has been known ever since. The nautical reference is fitting for a pub so near the sea where sailors from around the world meet to share their tales.

Open all year round, The Anchor offers a wide selection of home cooked pub favourites and daily specials using locally sourced produce. The chef’s homemade ‘proper pie’ has become a firm favourite with visitors as well as the Fuggle Dee Dum Beer Battered Cod. Catering for all dietary requirements and tastes, The Anchor offers an excellent selection of meat, seafood, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes all freshly made to order.

The Anchor is always full of atmosphere and hosts live music throughout the year from some of the Island's most talented musicians. Described as the Isle of Wight’s premier music venue, The Anchor is a key destination for music fans all year round showcasing live music events up to six times a week during the summer months covering a wide range of musical genres including rock, pop, indie, blues, jazz, skiffle, ska and reggae to name but a few.

In the warmer months visitors can relax in the large courtyard beer garden which is a real suntrap and features a Mermaid Gin Bar which is open throughout the summer. The Anchor’s garden parties and impromptu ‘gigs in the garden’ have become a huge draw for visitors and locals on a sunny afternoon so be sure to keep an eye on their social media for updates.

During the wintertime you can cosy up amongst the warmth of a log fire and candlelight and enjoy an array of home cooked favourites. The chef’s homemade chunky beef stew and dumplings features regularly on the specials board and The Anchor’s toad in a hole is a firm favourite. On Sundays you can enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and large, fluffy Yorkshire puddings.

Large parties and crews are welcome and large groups can be comfortably catered for. The Anchor is a dog friendly pub with complimentary biscuits for your four-legged friends.

The Anchor also offers comfortable and affordable accommodation for guests throughout the year. There are seven newly refurbished rooms each finished to a high standard whilst in keeping with the nautical roots of Cowes' oldest and most highly regarded public house.
