About

The innovative Wightlink Warriors Shale Track Racing Club host weekly race meetings (weather permitting) from June to September, all aimed at a family audience.

Riders as young as five take to the track and compete over a series of races with the top adult riders achieving average speeds of fifty miles per hour on 500 cc motorbikes WITHOUT brakes or gears. Action on the near quarter mile shale oval can be breathtaking and spectators are therefore treated to an exciting night of motor sport in comfortable covered surroundings with catering facilities on hand.

The club also operate a speedway training school known as 'My First Skid' and anyone interested in trying out a racing bike - be it as a one-off or an a more serious basis - should check out details on the 'My First Skid' Facebook page.

Club house - The Premier Lounge is situated on the first floor of the club house adjacent to the track on the second bend. An outside terrace offers a unique view of the racing. The well stocked bar is complimented by a range of fast food and snacks for visitors who enjoy comfortable surroundings.

Public Transport Directions

Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries offer discounted travel. Book via the 'Travel' tab on the club's website - www.warriorsspeedway.com

Routes:

1. Portsmouth to Fishbourne for car and foot passengers.

2. Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pierhead using the 'Fastcat' service.

3. Lymington to Yarmouth for car and foot passengers.

VISITORS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO CHECK TRAVEL TIMES, ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENING.

Hovertravel also offer a cross-Solent service from Portsmouth to Ryde Esplanade.

The Stadium (postcode PO33 4BH) is approximately 3 miles from Ryde Esplanade train station and for those without their own transport a taxi to the track is the best option with pre-booking advisable.
