Isle of Wight Cycling Festival 2012

The Isle of Wight Cycling Festival  returns for 2012 with a total of 59 events lined up for all ages and abilities! The festival kicks off on Saturday 22nd September with the Wightlink Wight Challenge, which combines Cycling with canoeing and running events, followed by the British Cycling "Cyclocross" cross country event.

The notorious "Hills Killer" rounds take place on Sunday 23rd September, with beginner, intermediate and advanced rounds taking in some of the Isle of Wight's steepest climbs (and along the way some of the Island's most spectacular views!) There is also a Four Hour Enduro event the following Sunday (30th September) called the "Chevy Chase". Supported by British Cycling and hosted at the Wight Mountain Bike Centre, there are practice sessions available for this the day before between 2 - 6pm.

For younger and more casual riders some highlights from the week of events include; a bike ride and fossil walk with "Shanklin, Shells and Sycles", a "Twenty Mile Chain Stretcher" for slower riders who nevertheless like a "hilly" challenge, and a "Tiny Tots Cycle Adventure" which heads around Bevois Farm, Niton giving toddlers and young children a chance to see some animals as they travel round on their own choice of cycle or ride on toy.

For more details on any of the above, or to see the full listing of all 59 events taking place across the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival 2012 check out http://www.sunseaandcycling.com/.
