The Isle of Wight’s high streets are lined with a range of local boutique shops and larger branded stores. With so many creative shop owners setting up on the Island, you’ll never tire of browsing for the perfect gift – for a loved one or yourself!
If you’d prefer to indulge in some serious retail therapy, hop on one of the short ferry rides across to the Mainland. Catch the Red Jet from West Cowes to Southampton and the free bus from the port to the main shopping centre, WestQuay. WestQuay, which is set over three levels, is home to over 100 well-loved brands including Apple, John Lewis and H&M. At the top of the building is a great food court where you can relax over a coffee and recharge for the rest of the day’s browsing. If you’re planning on finishing the day with lots of heavy bags, take the car over on Red Funnel’s car ferry service from East Cowes.
Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth is also a brilliant retail destination and only 22 minutes away on Wightlink’s catamaran service, 10 minutes on the Hovercraft (both leaving from Ryde) and 45 minutes on Wightlink’s car ferry service (leaving from Fishbourne). Gunwharf Quays is home to a range of great shopping oulets, with an enticing food court including restaurants such as Carluccio’s, Café Rouge, Giraffe, Jamie’s Italian and Loch Fyne.
