We went in February and a lot of the Island's attractions weren't open yet but we found everyone really friendly and it was quite nice to be given the time of day which we may not have got in peak season. Can't say anything about the beach or the front as it was raining too hard and consistently to explore but we went to the museum in Ryde and to Dimbola house, both of which were worthwhile and it was nice driving around on nearly empty roads.

Love it, been many many times, well over 20. shame to see so many places shutting down but that is sign of the times. Some wonderful shops. A beautiful beach. The best place we ate was in Shanklin though along the seafront. Had the boat wheel think it was called steamer or something it was awesome. Not happy you have to pay for parking at night-time now. Very friendly people everywhere you go. Isle of wight is Awesome. The ferry cost a fortune for such a short trip across, makes you want to travel in the middle of the night . We stayed at the Broadway Inn this time was very impressed. Really close to the beach. Love the tesco in Ryde. Found an amazing carvery on the journey there. Its a pub near the premier convenience store, the purple one. Forgotten its name. Anyway cant wait for next year.

Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities...
Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities and the beach. We particularly enjoyed Dinosaur Isle to see fossils and how life has been pre-human on the island. The National Poo Museum is small but good fun and interesting for all the ages.
Brading is a 5-10mins bus ride away to see the well preserved Roman Villa and there is a vinyard not far from their either :D Walking to Shanklin along the coast path is lovely for a really traditional British Seaside scene. We'd advise against walking on to Ventnor as the path is rugged and there is very little to see, with cliff path diversions it took us 4hrs and we defo bused it back.
We enjoyed food at The Reef, Flanigan's and Kate's Cafe.
We moved to Cowes for visiting Carisbrooke Castle and Osbourne House as they would each be about 1.5hrs from Sandown by bus, but if you had a car I'd stay based here.

Quiet town with good transport links to Ryde and Newport via bus or train. There is a caravan site near the Tesco supermarket. The beach is un spoilt. Parking is on the beach front at a good rate. Lots of benches to sit down and enjoy the cliffside views.

People were very friendly.
People were very friendly. I did not feel unsafe at any time. The newer hotels do quite well along the promenade. Any efforts to tear down the old hotels should be encouraged, those derelict hotels give Sandown an image of being an old undesired relic.

Sandown is a lovely place to stay. Beach was lovely.
Sandown is a lovely place to stay. Beach was lovely. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend for a while but that didn't bother us. The pier in Sandown has all you need on a rainy day. Lovely little shops with very friendly people and little homely cafe's. Lovely place. Easy to get around to other places, either driving by bus(regular services to other places of interest) or walking along coastal paths.
We loved the location, only a short stroll to the beach and other attractions in Sandown. The kitchen had everything we needed. Even though there is a meter for the power, I think we used less than £1 for our 2 night stay. The beds were comfortable. The welcome pack of water, milk, bread, biscuits, tea and coffee was very useful. There was also shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. It's on the number 8 bus route, and not a long walk from the 2 or 3 of you take them to Sandown. Would absolutely stay there again :)
Great communication with information before arrival.
Good location for shops and seafront.
Private Courtyard and Annexe Accomodation
Room very Clean and good facilities including a shared Kitchen.
Courtyard great for Al fresco dining or Breakfast!😊.
On-site Presence of Owners relations great for conversations about IOW and visiting locations.
Nice private enclosed Accomodation.
Would Definitely Visit again.
Thank-You Tony,Jackie and Craig.
We had a small ground floor room with a door that opened out onto a lawn. A separate building with swimming pool (plus steam room, jacuzzi) and a small games room (table tennis) were in the building opposite. Comfortable bed with wonderful pillows! The welcome was wonderful, and the staff were helpful in every way. The hotel is just a short walk from Sandown beach.
John was an incredibly gracious and attentive host. I fell asleep to the sound of waves and woke to the sound of chirping birds. what a hidden gem! breakfast was filling and delicious. this is a basic but comfortable and good value hotel and we will be staying there again in the future. location was also perfect near downtown Sandown and the beach.
Very nice location, 10 minute walk to Sandown Pier and seafront, but in a really quiet and secluded spot.
Very comfortable traditional style hotel, had a nice little bar with food but we didn’t have the chance to try it out. Very pet friendly and gave us Room 1 , ground floor and next to the main door, which was perfect.
Emma, Gordon and Michael, are perfect hosts, warm and welcoming. The hotel is clean, bright and modern, and the breakfasts are amazing. We didn't want to leave. This was our best short break ever, and we highly recommend the Bell Lodge Hotel to anyone planning a stay in Sandown
We had a lovely cozy room. There were everything that we needed: a kettle, cups, tea, towels, shampoo, etc. They also had a microwave and a fridge in the dining area. The hosts were super friendly. We recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to have a nice vacation in Sandown.
The owners and staff were very nice and helpful. The room was a little small but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was well-prepared and extensive. The hotel itself was spotless and the owners had gone to considerable lengths to make the place welcoming.
I liked a lot of things, like the Sun Lounge in the hotel, and the long sandy beach as well as the pier. I didn't need the shuttle taxi to get to the bus stop for wider travel around the island, just walk along the beach front road in the sunny weather.
We line the ambiance of the hotel which is surrounded by nature. We also like that the hotel is just 10 minutes walk to Sandown beach and the high street shops as well. Also, the staff are approachable and friendly.
Thank you to Abbie the manager of the hotel who couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating to us. They were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to this hotel
Well located near the beach, and a short walk from Sandown high street bus stop.
Has very good ambience and amenities. Very friendly staff. Check in and check out were a breeze.
You won’t get any closer budget place to the Sandown bay beach than this hotel. We’ve had a lovely view of the sea from our room. Friendly staff. Pleasant stay.
Our stay at Malvern hotel was great - great customer service, very hospitable staff. Rooms were clean, parking was very convenient , staff readily available.
